Eric Gazin, President of Auction Cause
Eric is the President and founder of Auction Cause and also Gazin Auctions, both of which produce high-profile brand and cause marketing online auction events. With personal management experience in over $30 million in eBay auction sales and over 50,000 listings, Eric is a sought-after writer, commentator, lecturer, and instructor on everything related to brands, celebrities, cause marketing, social media, and online auctions.
His campaign with Kevin Bacon and Six Degrees won a viral marketing award from Marketing Sherpa. He has also worked on eBay projects with such notables as Kim Kardashian, Matthew McConaughey, Gene Simmons, Garry Kasparov, Ludacris, Stephen Hawking and companies such as BMW, eBay, Diet Pepsi, Nike, GQ Magazine, Miller Lite, Dairy Queen, Ford, and L’Oreal Paris. He set the then all-time record for largest charity auction in eBay history, with the sale of the Rush Limbaugh – Harry Reid letter for over $2.1 million. His auctions have generated over 2 billion media impressions via online, print, radio, and broadcast. Most recently, he oversaw the largest charity auction single seller event, with over $4.5 million raised for The Michael J. Fox Foundation via the NIKE MAGS Back To The Future shoe sale in September, 2011.
With a background in law, Eric had a successful career in international licensing in Asia for brands such as Kate Spade, Mossimo, and Little Caesar’s Pizza. Later he worked as an economic researcher for the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and as Director of Sales and Marketing for International Business Law Services (IBLS), a global Internet Law company. He also served as conference director for the IBLS Strategic Global Summit For E-Commerce in 2003. One of his proudest moments in association with auction management came when he spoke at the United Nations to help launch the Bernard Vidal charity art auction on eBay in November 2005, in support of the American Red Cross.
Eric has been featured multiple times on eBay Radio talking about his celebrity projects and has been interviewed for a podcast at AuctionBytes, the leading publication for auction news. Eric can also be heard discussing cause marketing and branding at Thatmarketingshow.com. He has been a featured speaker at the Association of Fundraising Professionals luncheon, at the American Marketing Association’s Cause Marketing Conference, and at the California Association of Nonprofits Conference. In 2008 and 2010, he was on panels at The Giving Back Fund’s conferences on sports and philanthropy. Most recently in 2011, he was a featured speaker at the Athletes For Hope Retreat at LIVESTRONG Headquarters and at the Vivanista Conference.
